  • Yes. Everything we bake is kosher pareve.

OK Kosher Certification supervises all baking at the By the Way Bakery commissary kitchen in Pleasantville, New York. The By the Way Bakery commissary produces all of the baked goods sold in all By the Way Bakery retail shops. Click on this link to review the kosher certificate for the commissary.

OK Kosher does not supervise our retail locations. Instead, local Rabbis make periodic site inspections of our stores, on weekdays and Shabbat, to ensure that the only baked goods sold in the stores are the ones baked in the commissary. Learn more about these inspections here.

You can also purchase items in our shops that are in sealed packaging bearing the OK Kosher symbol. In addition, you can order in advance and request that any item on the By the Way Bakery menu arrives at the shop in sealed packaging bearing the OK symbol. These pre-packaged items are the only items sold in our stores that are certified by OK Kosher.

Questions? Please send an email to kosher@btwbakery.com or call our commissary at (914) 741-1956.

  • No. Some but not all of our recipes include tree nuts. While we do have products that do not contain tree nuts, there is always a risk of cross-contamination. Among the tree nuts found in our kitchen are pecans, walnuts, almonds, and hazelnuts. In addition, many of our products contain coconut. Please review our Ingredient Summary before placing an order.

  • No, because we use eggs and conventional sugar. (Eggs may be sold next to the milk, but they're not considered dairy by the USDA.) After years of trying, we've yet to come up with a vegan option that meets our standards.

  • Caviar, DoorDash, GrubHub, and Uber Eats offer same-day delivery of any item that we have in-store at the time of the order.

Sorry, delivery for custom orders is not available via these third-party platforms.
